On this assignment for the Telegraph Travel desk I visited Deplar Farm in Iceland. This is one of the best heliskiing destinations in the world. Of the hundreds of hotels and lodges I’ve stayed at in this job, Deplar Farm is certainly one of the most remote.
Situated in a remote valley that runs northwards towards the frosty Atlantic Ocean, Deplar ranks as one of the most isolated, yet most luxurious hotels in Europe, perhaps even the world.
This region of Iceland receives some of the highest snowfall in the country and the slopes that surround the property make for exhilarating skiing and snowboarding.
If you can handle red and black resort pistes you should be more than capable of skiing here, with the assistance of a highly experienced local guide.
