How are cricket bats made? – Stumped, BBC World Service

I love working on cricket stories and this report for BBC Stumped allowed me to find out how cricket bats are created from English willow.

How are cricket bats made? And why is English willow the perfect timber for the job? In the South of Oxfordshire, English willow trees are grown in an abundance. And people from all over the world have been putting in their orders for their bats to be made from this wood. Simon Parker follows the journey from the growth of willow trees to the making of bats for players of all ages and abilities.
